RH369 Episode 1: Phil’s Bright Idea.

[content: introduction to Phil and Mike / MATS and build-off overview / burnt wreck]

Phil Langevin, a small town Canadian custom rig builder and fleet owner is up against it again. He asks “What does it take for his small group of family and friends to win the ‘Big Rig Build Off’?”. This will be Phil’s third entry into the prestigious competition against the biggest truck fabricators in North America He has come close but with no win. And he wants to blow people away this time, creating the world’s first stainless steel Pete!

Phil and best friend Mike begin to plan out their design and strategy, but quickly realize they only have 5 months until the competition. For a small group of guys this is a daunting task by itself. Add to this, the two donor 359s that will make up the front-end are completely burnt out wrecks, so they don’t have a solid frame or a cab/bunk to work with. All the burnt, dirty, smelly parts are stripped off.

Phil calls upon his friends and family for help.

“Ridin’ High: Building The 369”:  One of  the first digital ‘webisode series’ on the internet.  The broadcast version was distributed internationally.

RH369 is real.  A ‘real reality show’.  No fake arguments. No made up situations. No TV studio help or money. Everything you see in this show is real and true.

Watch trucker/fleet owner Phil Langevin as he, his sons, and his friends embark on the journey to build a beautiful stainless steel custom rig from a burned out 379 Pete. The goal…to enter the truck into the ‘Pride and Polish Build-off Contest’ at the world’s biggest truck show the ‘Mid America Trucking Show‘ (MATS) in Louisville KY. The TruckGuysTV production crew recorded all 120 hours of the truck build. Initially we shot using low cost cameras and packaged the edited content for low bandwidth streaming. And because the show was made for ‘the internet’ the entire duration of the truck build was made available to watch online. The Klos Brothers, who are serious and successful truck builders from Australia, were the first to report to us that they watched all 120 hours! A fantastic feet unto itself. Thanks Mates!

Ridin’ High: Building the 369 was seen worldwide with up to 10,000 website hits weekly. RH369 eventually became so popular that Discovery Channel asked TruckGuysTV to re-edit the series into 13 High Definition episodes so that they could sell and distribute the shows internationally. Quickly the show was sought after by tv stations in places like the Ukraine and Poland. Staying true to our TruckGuysTV internet protocol television development processes Season Two of Ridin High (‘Ridin High: Building the Retroliner’) was shot and packaged for mobile. Thanks for watching.
